Fire Control Technician I

Major Functions:
Responsible for maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of complex facility fire suppression systems.
This includes contractor management for all MDI properties
Responsibilities:
Conducts/coordinates/documents the required NFPA 25 Sprinkler System inspections and associated service.
Successfully complete any training as assigned by management including online LMS activities.
Conducts and documents all maintenance work, such as changing sprinkler heads and other repairs to sprinkler systems Ability to achieve certification on equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, etc.
Understands Safety principles in areas such as job site safety and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Conducts/coordinates/documents the required NFPA 25 Sprinkler System inspections and associated service.
Utilize company work order system for assignments and track time.
Maintains current information on all sprinkler system drawings and water flow rates as developed by the Property Loss Carrier Is available to respond to facility emergencies involving repairs and impairments to automatic fire suppression systems after hours.
Assists with maintaining access to the facilities during inclement weather as needed.
Perform other tasks as assigned by supervision.
Participates in on call rotation.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in fire science or related program preferred HS diploma or GED 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
High standard of integrity and professionalism Ability to interact with all levels of the organization Must possess a valid driver's license Must be able to bend, twist, and lift to 70 lbs.
Direction/Responsibility:
Report directly to the Facilities/Maintenance Manager or Supervisor Recommended Skills Fire Control Systems Maintenance National Electrical Codes Palletizing Personal Protective Equipment Problem Solving Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
