Cutting Programmer

About this Opportunity
As a Cutting Programmer working at Geiger, you'll be responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining accurate programs for Fabric CNC equipment using the current programming software. You will also run the machine and help lead the cutting area.

Ensure the cutting of production to quality standards.
Ensure accurate calculations of fabric yardage requirements utilizing the EMS and cutting system.
Export files as required.
Follow up on rush orders to ensure proper handling and delivery.
Gain full knowledge of the pattern digitizing process, which includes software, hardware, and interaction with technical support. You'll also digitize new parts.
Grade fabrics into appropriate stretch categories.
Liaison between Product Development and Manufacturing/Operations.
Manage pattern changes.
Participate in the textile approval process.
Program the CNC cutter to allow Manufacturing to complete daily orders.
Take responsibility for answering any fabric requirement questions.
Take responsibility for pattern database management.
Run the plotter.
Train CNC Operators.
Understand product options.
Understand upholstery patterns and their usage to gain maximum fabric yields.
Use the newly implemented fabric stretch category for the proper classification of new fabrics.
Work with Fabric Purchasing and Customer Service to analyze and develop new patterns with yardage and pricelist requirements, as well as with making revisions to existing product patterns.
Work hand-in-hand with Product Development Model Makers in the development of new products.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

The ability to read, understand, communicate, and interpret written and verbal instructions, work documentation, policies, practices, etc., in the English language and at a level necessary to adequately perform the job required with previous experience.
Competency in basic math skills, such as adding and subtracting.
The ability to read and interpret documents such as dispatch lists, shop orders, CAD drawings, etc.
Good verbal communication skills and the ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.
The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as yardages, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Reasoning skills to ensure communication with vendors and coworkers.
Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and reasoning skills.
A previous understanding of patterns and fabric (preferred).
Previous experience with textile cutting equipment and software such as Accumark, PDS 2000, and System Management software (preferred).
The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Demonstrated initiative to lead others for improved performance and a consistently demonstrated job performance that exceeds expectations.
The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
